Pinwheel Quilt

£1,300.00

The Pinwheel quilt was born from an overflowing box of cut offs from my Christmas stockings. I use a 8 pointed star block that creates a bit of waste, and I have been saving them all up over the past few years. It got to a point where the box wouldn’t fit in my cupboard any longer, so it was time to do something with them.

Each off-cut created pinwheels when put together. The ones inside the border go one way, and the pinwheels outside the border go the other.

It felt very traditional once I had sewn it up, and the wool batting I had was so thick that it called for an eiderdown look. This will be a very cosy quilt for any place in the home.

I used a beautiful light linen for the top, bottom and binding. The red border is organic cotton. The natural colours were created with indigo, cochineal, madder, chestnut, oak leaf, rhubarb root, coreopsis and cutch. There are some tiny gingham triangles from some stockings I made for Straw London.

Each quilt is made with love and attention to detail. Hand quilted to compliment the patchwork and hand finished binding which has mitred corners for a beautiful finish.

  • The batting is 100% organic wool, making for a lovely, squishy weight and feel.

  • Measures approx 130 x 170 cm

  • Hand wash when needed with a gentle eco laundry liquid and dry flat

  • Hand dyed and sewn in my home in Bath, UK
